St. Patrick’s day is celebrated throughout the world every year on March 17. On this day you may wish to have a traditional Irish themed menu. Since the colors of this country’s flag are green, orange and white, you may wish to incorporate these colors into your meal as well on this day. Here is one way that you can do this.

Start by creating a creamy basil tomato soup garnished with a swirl of cream and chopped basil as an appetizer. Herein you will have all of the colors of Ireland’s flag. Then for the main course, you may wish to make a poached salmon with watercress sauce. This can then be served with carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and, of course, potatoes. You can then complete this meal with a simple dessert. Herein a nice fruit salad with kiwi, mango, lychees, green grapes, oranges and pears topped with whipped cream and some cinnamon would work wonderfully.

As for drinks, you may wish to serve up some Irish coffee (sweetened black coffee with a shot of Irish whiskey and some cream floating on top). This would go great with this type of a meal. If you are looking for something different, you could also serve Guinness or Irish whiskey both of which the Irish claim have health benefits.

Now you may also wish to set the ambiance as well. For this you can simply use a white tablecloth with green and orange candles. White crockery would work great here but if not, then you should at least make sure to use white dishes. In the background, you may wish to play some Irish folk music. Musicians such as Thin Lizzy or Phil Lynot are best known for this type of music. For after dinner entertainment you may wish to purchase a Dave Allen CD. He is a very funny comedian that you will surely enjoy.
