If you want to earn money off of your blog, then you are going to need to have a good, solid marketing plan.  Without such a plan you will either fail or grown discouraged and quit.  So, once you create a blog that is dedicated to a specific niche, you will want to make sure that you take the following steps before you ever decide to monetize it:
1.Your blog must be dedicated to a niche market.
2.You will need to update your blog on a regular basis.
3.You will need to create a decent amount of back links through things such as directory submissions.
4.You will need to have your blog on a good host such as Blogger, Word Press or Type Pad.
5.You should be posting high quality articles on your blog.

Once you have done these things, it will be time to monetize your blog.  You need to understand that there are several ways in which you can do this, including:
1.Google AdSense will deliver text and images to your web site based upon your content.  In order for this to work you will need to install a small amount of code.  Once installed, whenever a visitor clicks on the ad you will make money.
2.Amazon.com allows you to advertise any of their products on your blog.  Whenever a visitor clicks on your Amazon ad they will be taken to a page where an item is advertised.  If they decide to purchase the item, then you will earn commission.
3.Affiliate marketing web sites allow you to become affiliate members and then advertise their products.  Whenever a sale is made you will then make a commission off of the sale.  Two of the most common programs here are Click Bank and Commission Junction.
4.Text links are actually the best way to monetize a blog since you won’t have to clutter your site with ads.  In fact, the best place to have them is at the better of your blog.  Whenever someone then clicks through or makes a purchase you will be paid depending upon which program you are using.

After you have your ads in place, you can use BlogAds, CrispAds or TagWord to effectively manage these ads.  Herein you will receive analytical tools that will help you to make your blog even more profitable.
