If you want to get your message out as an Internet marketer, then you are going to have to work hard to beat the spam filters. This can be frustrating but it is important since you have put a lot of work into researching and writing articles for in your carefully composed newsletter. The time that you spent doing these things should actually make you want to spend a few more minutes in order to see that your intended audience actually sees what you have created. After all, there use to be a lot of money that could be made off of the sales that such a newsletter can generate. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case since spam-blockers are placing even opt-in mailings into spam boxes where they are never even seen.
You can see why there are a lot of responsible marketers who are now asking themselves how they can work to get around these spam filters in order to make sure that people are actually receiving their intended mailings. These same marketers are also working really hard in order to increase their chances of getting their mailings past these spam filters as well as past any ISPs that may be blocking their content.
So, why are people also concerned about ISPs? This is because many ISPs are acting irresponsibly whenever it comes to delivering mailings. They don’t seem to care if they hurt any of the small businesses that rely upon email marketing. For instance, HotMail is known to filter emails that are being sent by legitimate businesses that are not involved in any form of spam. Yet it doesn’t end there. HotMail will not even bother to send you an email to tell you that your legitimate mailing has been flagged as spam. Thankfully there are not a lot of ISPs that act in this manner. Instead, you will find that more ISPs that have very well-working ISP procedures.
It doesn’t matter what ISP you are sending your mailings to though, it will still be very difficult to guarantee that your newsletter will actually make into the hands of your intended audience. Thankfully there are some things that you can do in order to increase this likelihood.
One thing you can do is try fooling the spam filters. Herein you will need to add a note at the top of each mailing reminding your recipients that they have indeed signed up for this newsletter. Another thing that you can do is make sure that you use both upper and lower case letters in your headings throughout your newsletter. You can also try to remove any words or phrases that might set off the spam filters but this can be more difficult to do as it really is a guessing game.
While you can try to beat the spam filters at their game, your time would be better spent in educating your subscribers by telling them why they may not be receiving your newsletters. It would also be better spent in joining in on such campaigns as the “I’m Mad As Hell And Not Going To Take It Any More” Campaign, which Dr. Ken Evoy, the President of SiteSell, is hosting.
Regardless as to what you choose to do, you need to do something to ensure that your audience is actually receiving the newsletter that you are sending them. You need to stand up for your right to run an online business that utilizes opt-in mailings as a part of your marketing strategy.
