Chef Gordon Ramsay began a new day in Hell’s Kitchen with his famous taste test, the palette challenge the contestants face on every season of the show. One member down, the mean’s team needed to rally in order to pull out a win and avoid another bad day in the kitchen.
Of course, they failed miserably at this. Each blue team member identified only one of four ingredients they were asked to taste, becoming easily defeated by the women. It was Andy’s misfortune to go last in the challenge; he therefore gained the most wrath from the rest of his team.
As a reward, the women went to a trendy restaurant where they dined with Chef Ramsay in the dark. Back at the kitchen, the men created hand-made sorbet using fresh fruit.
At the following night’s dinner service, however, the men were anything but losers. They worked well as a team to deliver appetizers, sorbets, entrees and desserts. On the other side of the kitchen, the women found it much more difficult to work together. Suzanne refused to time her fish with the meat station, railroading Sabrina and later blaming Amanda when the fish wasn’t cooked properly.
In the end, Chef Ramsay declared the female team the losing side and nominated Tenille as Best of the Worst. Without missing a beat, the latter informed Suzanne that she would be put on the elimination block. Tenille also nominated Sabrina, while Ramsay called Amanda forward. As he addressed the three elimination candidates, the women’s team rallied to report all of Suzanne’s flaws.
But Ramsay decided to heed no counsel but his own. He dismissed Amanda from the kitchen, leaving Suzanne to argue with her team for another week.
