Pablo Picasso (25 October 1881 – 8 April 1973) was a famous and influential Spanish painter of the twentieth century. His full name was Pablo Diego Jose Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno Maria de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santisima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso. He is a co-founder of the Cubist Movement. Artist Henri Matisse was a longtime friend and rival. Picasso attended art school but lacked the discipline for formal training. American art collector Gertrude Stein was a major patron. Picasso loved the ladies and had several affairs. He fathered four children. One of the women he had an affair with had two children by him but they were never legitimized and she tried legal action to no avail by the time of his death in 1973.
