According to a report from TMZ, Hollywood has greenlit a movie based on the popular board game Connect Four. Piggybacking on the industry’s latest inspiration for films.
Despite the limited box office returns for board game-based Battleship, executives determine that the market for these projects is still active, giving the film a rumored $120 million budget.
Director James Watkins, of The Woman in Black fame, has signed on to the project with a planned release date of August 2013. Toby Maguire and Kate Beckinsale are rumored to star in the film.
According to sources, the plot will revolve around a series of supernatural artifacts that must be joined together to prevent a demonic presence from overtaking the world.
