Based out of the UK, BSA has been in business for nearly 150 years. They are England’s oldest and renowned gun maker and small arms manufacturer. They own a number of gun related businesses including ammunition, shooting supplies, and rifle scopes. The rifle scope side of their business was formed in 1996 and is known as BSA Optics.
Since 1996, BSA has been expanding it’s product offering in their line of rifle scopes. They have created scopes that are targeted towards the more cost minded, as well as some that are specifically produced for specialized applications like bad weather and low light shooting. Currently, BSA has rifle scope models for the following applications:
* Air rifles
* Rimfires
* Centerfire
* Tactical
* BDC models (Sweet series)
As BSA has grabbed a share in the rifle scope industry, they have continued to expand their rifle scope line. Their most popular model is the “Sweet” series which was one of the first commercial rifle scopes to offer this technology at an affordable price. Prior to the BSA Sweet series, the BDC technology was only available expensive rifle scopes used for tactical or law enforcement. The Sweet series features BDC scopes that are built around a specific round like a .22, 17 HMR, and .223, 270, and 30-06. The scopes have built-in bullet drop adjustments that are built on the round itself and the bullet weight.
Will BSA be the best selection for every hunter or shooter? No, it won’t. But, for the budget conscious individuals who want fairly good performance for under $150 then the BSA is certainly a possibility. One of my favorite squirrel rifles is topped with a BSA and I wouldn’t trade that rifle/scope combo for anything on the planet.
BSA Optics has been making rifle scopes for over 100 years, making them one of the oldest rifle scope makers in the world. Now you ask: do they make a scope that is right for you? Follow this link to see:=> Choosing a BSA Scope.
